Links vs. Links:
Battle for the links
(All links will annoyingly (or wonderfully) open in a new window (preferably not a "SECRET" one))
Comics & the Like
Here's where I link to all the comics and similar-to-comics pages out there that deserve your utmost attention, probably even more than Eagle-DNA! Though you may be tempted to never return here after reading some of these fascinating achievements, please do. For the children!!!
- Superosity - If there is anything that Chris Crosby's long-running webcomic hasn't dealt with, it's Celebrity Recipes. Some very funny stuff nonetheless, of course, but WHEN WILL IT DEAL WITH CELEBRITY RECIPES?!
- Hound's Home - Ryan Duchane's marvellous comic stocks up on laughs so that they can be passed along to you at SAVINGS!!!
- Owlie! - See the comic that started it all... Wait a sec... I mean see the comic that Mike Leffel started after being inspired by Eagle-DNA's Owlie character!
- Can mankind live without Pokey the Penguin?!!
Doubtful!?!
- Fat Jesus - Initially developed by myself and Mike Leffel during the "Jesus" miniseries on CBS out of a sheer lack of interest, Fat Jesus evolved into a complex storyline completely developed by Mike Leffel. Certainly worth a perusal if you can get past the whole "thou shalt not make fat jokes about Jesus" thing in the Bible!
- Homestar Runner - I truly doubt that there is another site that is more fun to peruse again and again than Homestar Runner. From "Teen Girl Squad" to "Strongbad's Emails" to "EVEWY-FWEAKING-THING-THERE," Homestar Runner is like the ultimate in Flash animation comedy!
- Tom the Dancing Bug - Lots of fun, especially the Super-Fun-Pak-Comix.
- This Modern World - If your name is "Alexander P. Scaredofpolitics, MD," you might not like this site. But if your name is "Alexander P. Freedompants, DDS," perhaps this is a site for you. (This link goes to Tom Tomorrow's blog; from there, click his link to comic fun-dom!)
- Random Axe of Kindness - Make the cut with this comic by Andy Simmons!
TV Links
What is a TV show but something that you watch? If you said "Yes," certainly! With so few edible shows on TV these days, here's a few that will clean your onions?!
- Adult Swim - Cartoon Network has made TV worth watching again by airing hilarious original programs like Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law, and Sealab 2021.
- South Park Studios - While the show may not be in its prime, there are still some episodes that put most standard network fare to horrible, horrible shame.
- Upright Citizens Brigade - If they're still airing the reruns on Comedy Central, watch them! Some very original comedy!
- TV Go Home - Not a TV show, not real TV listings, but TV listings full of biting satire of what actually passes for television these days. And of course, biting social commentary.
- Dead Like Me - Probably not everyone's cup of tea, and probably destined to decline the longer it's on, but I find Dead Like Me to be one of the most refreshingly different shows of the new millenium... EVER!!!
- epguides.com - Useful beyond belief if you need/want to find a listing of episodes for over 2500 TV shows!
They Might Be Giants Links
It just wouldn't be a links page without the TMBG links!
Various Links
- The Internet Movie Database - IMDB.com provides in-depth information on movies galore! Useful to find where some obscure actor has shown his ugly face!
- Cafe Press - Want to make your own T-Shirts, coffee mugs, bags, CDs, and more? Set up a store at Cafe Press. And if you make something that other people would like to buy, you might even make a buck or two!
- United Devices Agent - Grid computing software that allows you to contribute your extra computing power for a good cause, like trying to find a cure for cancer and fighting bioterrorism! When you join, sign up with Team Eagle-DNA to pummel the competition!
- SETI@home - Search for ET by installing this distributed computing program. It can run as a screen saver or as a background process -- YOU DECIDE! If you download and install the SETI@home software, join Team Eagle-DNA, and show the universe who's boss!
Anime Fansubbing Groups and Bittorrents
Here's some links to sites that serve up bittorrents of fansubbed Anime! If you are looking to see some of the hottest animated shows airing in Japan, these sites are for you.
- Kaizoku-Fansubs - Fansubbers of "One Piece," which is one of my favorite anime series. Over 100 episodes currently subbed, very high quality subs! Until it's released in America (and even when it is, if 4Kids Entertainment cuts the hell out of it), this is the site to get your One Piece fix!
- Animesuki.com - A good collection of links to fansubbed anime torrents, updated daily. Also, links to torrent sites organized by series titles! Very useful.
- Gotwoot.net - Where to get the latest fansubbed episodes of Naruto. There may be other fansub groups out there, but ANBU-AonE consistently produces a high quality sub.
Political Sites and Blogs that Deal with the Politics
If you have a political itch you need to scratch, or just want to try to keep up with what's going on with U.S. national politics, these are among my preferred sites!
- Talking Points Memo - Joshua Micah Marshall's site provides analysis of political happenings that looks beyond a story for the bigger picture. True, sometimes there might not be a big picture, but there's usually at least a medium-sized picture that the smaller pictures make up. Anyway, it's a good site!
- The Daily Howler - Biting criticism of the Washington press corps by Bob Somerby. Their incomparable archives can't be beat!
- Campaign Desk - Columbia Journalism Review's Campaign Desk provides balanced coverage of the coverage of the 2004 Presidential Race. Very useful for anyone who wants to keep on top of all the spinning being done by the pundits and the leaders of each political party.
Who knows... This time I might actually keep the links on this page up to date and add a few! If you're the sort of person who looks at link pages and visits them all, and doesn't feel like they've lived life to it's fullest until they've done so, return every so often, already!
