Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K)
MST3K is simply the very best program with a guy and robots in space making fun of stupid movies that most people probably wouldn't otherwise see. Though many of the jokes in the earlier episodes might have lost their relevance due to the passage of time, most of the jokes have a timelessness to them that ensures that they will continue to fascinate and entertain for MILLENIA to come.
- Mystery Science Theater 3000 Collection - The Essentials - Manos: The Hands of Fate and Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, considered two of the funniest episodes of MST3K by many a fan (they're AMONG my favorites, which number in the dozens, probably), are bundled in this bundle. Manos is probably one of the best episodes ever, with Mike Nelson's recurring portrayal of "Torgo" providing many a laugh!
- Mystery Science Theater 3000 - Mitchell - Mitchell is such a remarkably bad movie, it's only fitting that it's the final Joel Robinson episode. Joe Don Baker is a lard-filled load of loathsomeness that pushes Mitchell into the depths of movie hell, with Joel and the bots making it an integral part of MST3K heaven.
- Mystery Science Theater 3000 - The Brain That Wouldn't Die - Mike Nelson's first episode, "The Brain That Wouldn't Die" shows that one head and no body equals bad movie, which is greater than or equal to good MST3K!
Father Ted
I only wish I'd had the sense to tune in to Father Ted back when I had BBC America. Oh man, when I finally caught an episode, I was kicking myself! And I still haven't seen about half of them. But wow! Here is a British comedy that really only finds one thing sacred: HILARITY!
- Father Ted - The Holy Trilogy - Get all three seasons in one amazing collection! I'm totally serious when I say that there is humour in this series that I only DREAMED I once IMAGINED existed in a NOVELLA written by FRANZ KAFKA?!
Monty Python stuff
Do I need to say anything about Monty Python? I know that there are people who HATE them. I mean HATE! And why do they hate Monty Python? Because they hate freedom. That's why. So remember, when you watch Monty Python, you're freeing something something. I'm including the whole damn series and a movie or two in the links here. Because I can. TAKE THAT, HATERS! You cannot take away my FREEDOM!!! Or my Camembert, which I've actually just run out of...
"The Good" Woody Allen movies
Woody Allen: People like him, dislike him, love him, or hate him. Others are completely indifferent about him. I used to be quite indifferent about him. Then I saw "The Front," and thought, "Hey, he actually probably has some kind of talent, maybe!" So I watched more of his films, and found that the older ones were enjoyable, while some of the newer ones were watchable, yet less enjoyable. And the NEWEST ones I just skip altogether, opting instead to watch other programs that aren't just rehashings of older, better things!
- Stardust Memories - I enjoyed this film, though obviously, it's not for everyone. Allen plays a filmmaker who wants to write more serious movies, while his fans long for his older, funnier films.
- The Front - Woody Allen fronts for various blacklisted writers in this "stick-it-to-the-McCarthys" slice-of-life comedy/drama.
- Love and Death - Love and Death is the right mix of the ridiculous and the ridiculous. Allen's character's father, with the piece of land he intends to give to his son, provides a poignant reminder of inheritance in the world today?!
